Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Uttering Threats, Fail to Comply (Name Released)

A 56-year-old Cobourg man has been arrested after threatening local business staff and patrons.

On Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at approximately 7:20 p.m., a business in the Northeast end of Cobourg contacted police regarding a male in the business threatening to kill those present. After further investigation, police identified the suspect.

As a result, on September 25, 2025, Daniel ANNESLEY (56) of Cobourg was later located and arrested for Uttering Threats to cause death or bodily harm and Fail to Comply with Probation.

At the time of his arrest, the accused had been previously released by the courts on two separate release orders and subject to probation, all related to charges of Uttering Threats. The accused was held for a show cause hearing and subsequently released by the court on a release order.

The Cobourg Police Service notes that since September 2024, the accused has been arrested five times with ten criminal charges, including three charges of utter threats stemming from different incidents.  In total, police have had 39 interactions with the accused in the past year.
