Cornerstone’s Signature Event Returns to Downtown Cobourg during the Harvest Festival
Northumberland County – Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre (Cornerstone) is
proud to announce the return of Walk A Mile, now celebrating its 18th year of bringing the
community together in support of those impacted by gender-based violence.
Taking place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, this family-friendly walk through downtown Cobourg
is one of Cornerstone’s most impactful annual events. Over the years, Walk A Mile has raised
over $608,500 to help women, children, and youth access shelter, counselling, housing, and
prevention programs. Last year alone, Cornerstone served more than 3,000 individuals across
Northumberland County.
“We look forward to this event every year, it’s such an uplifting day to see the community come
together,” said Nancy Johnston, Executive Director of Cornerstone. “Whether you walk solo or
with a team, we invite everyone to join us in raising awareness and showing support. Bring your
family, friends, and even pets for a morning filled with purpose and fun!”
Registration will begin at 9:30am outside of the Cobourg Police Station and breakfast will be
provided by the Cobourg Lions Club, along with coffee from Pulse Coffee House and sweet
treats from FrostBites. The incredible Cobourg Legion Pipes & Drums will once again lead
walkers down King Street.
All types of footwear are welcome! Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for youth under 18,
with walkers encouraged to raise additional pledges to support Cornerstone’s vital work.
“This event wouldn’t be possible without our sponsors,” added Johnston. “We extend our
deepest thanks to our lead Stiletto Sponsor Ontario Line Clearing, Wharram Tree Service, for
their generosity and support, and special thanks to our Challenge Sponsors: Canadian Tire
Cobourg and Post Consumer Brands, their ongoing support makes a meaningful difference.”
commented Johnston.
The team at Ontario Line Clearing is looking forward to the event, “We are proud to support
Walk A Mile, it is a feel-good event that brings people together and shines a light on issues that
matter,” said Matt Wharram, President and CEO of Ontario Line Clearing and Wharram Tree

change in our community.”
