Belleville Police – Incidents Include Break and Enter, Public Intox, Impaired

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 268 calls for service beginning at 5:00 am on August 22, 2025 to 5:00 am on August 25, 2025.

Break and Enter
On August 22nd at approximately 7:30pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress in the city’s east end. Upon arrival, officers observed a female being removed from a residence. The occupants reported that they had returned home to find the unknown female inside their apartment. After removing her from the unit, they discovered some personal belongings were missing. Upon being removed, the female also pulled the fire alarm.
As a result, Tamara Denstedt, 43-year-old woman of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with:
· Break and enter
· Theft under $5000
· False alarm of fire
· Failure to comply with probation order

She was held for a bail hearing.

Breach of Undertaking, Public Intoxication
On August 22nd at 9:05pm, Belleville Police were called to assist EMS at a residence in the city’s west end regarding a report of disturbance. During their investigation, one of the males inside was known to be in breach of his Undertaking by being at the residence and communicating with occupants inside. As a result, a 51-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with two counts of failure to comply with an Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing.

During the arrest, another male who was determined to be intoxicated became hostile and refused to leave the area. As a result, a 40-year-old Belleville man was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under the LLCA.

Breach of Release Order, Public Intoxication
On August 22nd at 10:15pm, Belleville Police conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to stop for a stop sign. When officers approached the vehicle, they observed a female passenger in the vehicle and empty alcohol cans in the back seat. Further investigation revealed the driver was in breach of his Release Order by having contact with the female passenger. As a result, a 33-year-old Trenton man, was arrested and charged with failure to comply with a release order.

During the arrest, the female who was determined to be intoxicated became aggressive with officers and was attempting to interfere. As a result, a 31-year-old Belleville woman was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place under the LLCA.

Impaired Driver
On August 24th at approximately 9:00pm, Belleville Police responded to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 62 and Highway 14. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles that had collided. The driver of one vehicle, who had struck the other, was observed showing signs of impairment.
No injuries were reported, however, officers observed that three children were in the vehicle, including one without a car seat.

As a result of investigation, a 30-year-old Kingston woman was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired
· Abandoning a child

She was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in October.
