Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Cobourg Man Charged with Theft Under, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, x4 Breach, Cobourg Man Charged with Mischief Impaired (No Names Released)

A 20-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police investigated reports of suspicious activity.

On July 30, 2025, Cobourg Police Service opened an investigation after receiving reports of suspicious activity in the area of Fairbanks Road.  It was reported that, sometime overnight, an individual attempted to enter vehicles. One vehicle was entered, and approximately $800 of personal property was taken.

Police canvassed the area, obtained a video, and identified a suspect.

On Sunday, August 3, 2025, police on patrol downtown Cobourg located the suspect. After a foot pursuit, police arrested the 20-year-old Cobourg man who was charged with theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of trespass by night, and four counts of breach of probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing.


A 33-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police investigated a disturbance Tuesday morning.

On August 5, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence in the area of Elgin Street East in Cobourg. The complaint reported that their ex-partner entered the residence, caused damage, and then left the area in a vehicle, possibly impaired by drugs. Police located the vehicle travelling Westbound along Elgin Street and conducted a traffic stop.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Cobourg man was arrested, and a quantity of fentanyl was located in his vehicle during a search incident to arrest. The man was charged with Unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief destroys or damages property, operation while impaired, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance. The accused was released on an undertaking.
