A 39-year-old Cobourg woman is facing charges after police responded to suspicious person call.
On Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 7:30 a.m., police responded to the area of William Street and University Avenue West in Cobourg for a report of an individual throwing objects onto the roadway. Upon arrival, officers located a woman who exposed herself to officers and passing members of the public while screaming profanities. When officers attempted to take the female into custody, she assaulted the officers. As a result, the 39-year-old Cobourg woman was arrested and charged with Mischief – obstructs, interrupts or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property, Indecent Act – Public Place, Assault with intent to resist arrest, Assault Peace Officer, and two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation. The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing.
Two men were charged under the Railway Safety Act after police responded to a call on Thursday.
On July 31, 2025, police received a report of two males who appeared to be causing mischief near a rail crossing on Brook Road North in Cobourg. As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Cobourg man and a 35-year-old Bailieboro man were both charged under the Railway Safety Act for entering on land on which a line of work is situated.

Trains can approach silently and cannot stop quickly, putting lives at serious risk. Stay alert and safe near rail tracks. Whether walking, biking, or driving, always cross at designated crossings, obey railway signals, and never attempt to cross when barriers are down or lights are flashing.
A 23-year-old Gores Landing woman is facing impaired driving charges following an incident early Friday morning.
On Friday, August 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., police observed a vehicle travelling Northbound on Division Street in Cobourg, with no lights on. A vehicle stop was conducted. The driver was exhibiting signs of impairment. The driver failed a roadside screening test and was placed under arrest. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old Gores Landing woman was charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), Drive Motor Vehicle without Proper Headlights, and Drive Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Liquor. The accused received a 90-day license suspension, and her vehicle was impounded for 7 days. She was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
The Cobourg Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911. Impaired driving is the leading criminal cause of death and injury in Canada, yet every impaired driving crash is preventable. By calling 911 and reporting suspected impaired drivers to the police, everyone can play a role in keeping roads and waterways safe.
