Fatal Crash South of Cameron – Kawartha lakes

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) –  On Sunday February 18, 2018 at approximately 3:36pm emergency services personnel from the City of Kawartha Lakes, including officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two vehicle crash on Highway 35 south of Cameron.

A southbound sports utility vehicle (SUV) with five occupants collided with a northbound cube truck. A passenger in the SUV, a 71 year old female from Barrie, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision and the remaining vehicle occupants – four from the SUV and the driver of the cube truck were all transported to hospital. A five-year old boy from Oakville, and occupant of the SUV was subsequently airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries.

The OPP’s Technical Collision Investigations (TCI) attended the scene to assist with the investigation. Highway 35 was closed for approximately 5 hours in the area.

The investigation is continuing.
