Peterborough County OPP – Male Arrested Twice in Same Day

Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual twice within a 24-hour period after receiving two separate calls related to intimate partner violence (IPV).

On July 8, 2025, at approximately 3:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a threats call at a residence in Peterborough County. The caller advised that their former partner had made threats to cause damage to the caller’s property. Officers attended and spoke to the accused who reiterated the threat, at which point they were arrested.

A 61-year-old male was arrested and charged with;

· Uttering threats – damage property

The accused was released from custody on conditions not to communicate with the complainant.

On July 8, 2025, just prior to midnight, Peterborough County OPP Officers received a second call from the complainant. The caller advised that the same accused individual, after being released from custody had made multiple attempts to contact them. Officers contacted the accused who was arrested a second time.

The 61-year-old male was arrested and charged with;

· Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Peterborough.
