In Police Blotter

Was it a harmless prank or senseless vandalism in Cobourg early Saturday morning.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, June 28, 2025 two suspects were captured on video damaging property on Division Street.

Suspects got away – minus their sandals.

It was approximately 12:20 a.m. when video captured two suspects removing a barrier from Division Street that was intended for blocking southbound traffic due to the Waterfront Festival.

The barrier was placed on the west sidewalk and shortly after both suspects balanced themselves on the barrier while removing one of the hanging flower pots from the light standard.

After a few seconds of struggling, the clumsy culprits fell from the barrier with the flower pot.

Picking up the flower pot the suspects ran east across Division Street before the jig was up.

The two suspects headed east on Charles Street, but left the damaged flower pot.

The culprits made their getaway, but ran so fast they forgot their footwear.

Two pairs of sandals were left behind.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cobourg Police.
