Durham Region Police – Former Nurse Arrested for Numerous Break-and-Enters at Various Long-Term Care / Retirement Homes

A former 35-year-old female nurse has been arrested after entering multiple long-term care homes in Oshawa and Bowmanville to steal from residents.

On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, members of the East Division Criminal Investigations Branch began an investigation into a female suspect who was entering long-term care homes. Once entering the homes, the female suspect entered resident rooms, stealing their belongings.

Investigators were able to identify the suspect and she was arrested at her residence on June 6, 2025.
Investigators believe there may be other victims and are releasing a photo of the suspect. She is described as: female, White, medium build, red hair wearing a pink and purple scrub top, dark colored pants.

Kayla SUMMERS, age 35, of Clarington, is facing various charges including: Break Enter and Commit / Dwelling House, Theft not Exceeding $5000 and Fraud under $5000.
