City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service – Lindsay Man Charged After Person in Wheelchair Stabbed (Name Released)

On May 19th, 2025 at approximately 4:08pm the Kawartha Lakes Police Service responded to the area of Kent Street West and William Street North in Lindsay, for a report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived on scene and learned that two males had entered into a verbal argument which escalated to a physical altercation. During the altercation a knife was produced and the victim, who required the use of a wheelchair, was stabbed multiple times. The suspect then fled on foot, and witnesses observed him discard an item on the roof of a nearby building.

The victim was transported to Ross Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Responding officers searched the area and located the suspect a short distance away in a wooded area attempting to change clothes. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers also gained access to the roof of the business where the suspect discarded an item and seized a folding-blade knife.

42-year-old David Grozelle of Lindsay has been charged with:

· Assault

· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

· Assault with a weapon

· Assault causing bodily harm

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
