
On May 17, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a parking gate at a local resort.
The driver left the scene following the collision. Shortly thereafter, officers received a second report from a Durham Special Constable regarding the same vehicle, which was located on Old Surrey Lane, just outside of Bobcaygeon.
As a result of the investigation, James Shaw, a 59-year-old resident of Oshawa, has been charged with the following offences:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
In addition to the charges, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to a ppear in court at a later date.
