SIU Investigating Fatal Vehicle Collision in Madoc

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal vehicle collision last night in Madoc.

Preliminary information suggests the following:

On the night of April 27, 2025, an Ontario Provincial Police officer was driving eastbound on Highway 7 in Madoc when he observed a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. This same vehicle had been reported to police as driving dangerously.

The officer proceeded to follow the vehicle.

A short time later, in the area of Highway 7 and St. Lawrence Street West, the officer came across a collision between the vehicle of interest and a motorcycle.

The 57-year-old motorcycle rider was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle did not suffer any serious injuries.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
