(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – On Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at approximately 8:00 pm, the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an aggravated assault in the Town of Brighton.
Northumberland OPP along with Northumberland Emergency Services (EMS) responded to reports of a stabbing near Main Street. When police arrived on scene, they observed a 37 year-old injured male. The male was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
A 30 year-old female has been arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Fail To Comply With Conditions of Undertaking
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
The accused is currently in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
The Northumberland OPP Crime Unit continues to investigate this incident with assistance from the Central Region Forensic Identification Services.
