Maxwell Groves Acclaimed as Candidate for Green Party in Northumberland-Peterborough South

In Local

The Green Party of Northumberland-Peterborough South Constituency Association met on the evening of January 29th to acclaim Maxwell Groves as candidate for the Green Party in the Provincial election.

Born and raised in Northumberland County, in the town of Port Hope, Maxwell Groves returns to his
home county after many years living in Toronto eager to get involved in the local community.

Maxwell was inspired to run for the Green Party because he believes that rural populations are
unfairly treated and even ignored by the political mainstream parties and need a strong voice in
government to represent them.

As an active outdoors person and conservationist, he is a camping and canoe enthusiast. He
believes in protecting our watersheds, preserving our farmland and is committed to facilitating
ecological agricultural methods including sustainable farming practices.

Watching the impacts of housing prices and neighbours struggling to get to the city for medical
appointments, Maxwell is looking to advocate for transit expansion to ensure everyone has the
opportunities to reach the city to access services that will meet their needs. He is also looking at
creative ways to tackle homelessness without compromising the promise of sustainability.

Maxwell looks forward to championing Green values and policies – including real climate action,
affordable housing and increasing public transport to rural Ontario. With Maxwell at the helm, the
path to a sustainable future will be front and centre throughout this election.
