Municipality of Brighton Council Selects Hannah MacAusland to Fill Vacant Councillor Position

During a Special Council Meeting held on January 24, 2025, Brighton Council selected Hannah MacAusland to fill the vacant council seat for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term of office.

This vacancy was declared at the December 9, 2024, Council meeting, due to the passing of Councillor Byron Faretis.

In accordance with the Municipal Act, Council is required to fill the vacancy within 60 days of a vacancy being declared through a direct appointment, or a by-election. Council proceeded to fill the Office of Councillor vacancy through an Appointment by Call for Applications process.

Ms. MacAusland will take the Oath of Office at a public meeting prior to February 7, 2025.
