Update – Northumberland OPP – Robbery in Trent Hills Arrest (Name Released)

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a robbery in Trent Hills.

On October 18, 2024, at approximately 9:45 p.m., police were dispatched to a residence on Church Lane in Hastings for a robbery which had just occurred. The suspects had fled in a dark colored SUV prior to the arrival of police. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) also responded to assist in the investigation.

The preliminary investigation revealed that three males had assaulted and threatened the resident. A mobile phone was taken during the incident and a firearm is also believed to have been brandished during the altercation.

On October 21, 2024, police arrested one of the individuals sought in connection with the incident.

On November 18, 2024, the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Central East Region Repeat Offender Enforcement (ROPE) located another suspect at a residence in Havelock.

On November 25, 2024, the Northumberland OPP Crime Unit arrested a female in relation to the incident. They were charged accordingly and held for bail.

With the assistance of the Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu Police Service in Quebec, on December 20, 2024, OPP arrested another individual who was wanted in connection to the investigation. The accused was then transported from Quebec to Northumberland where they were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Dustin WESENBERG (age 30) from Quebec, has been charged with:

–      Robbery using a firearm

–      Assault with a weapon

–      Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

–      Uttering threats – damage property

–      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

–      Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

–      Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts

–      Fail to comply with probation order – two counts.
