Cobourg Police – Warrant Apprehension and Bail Compliance Project

In Police Blotter

In November, Cobourg Police Service (CPS) launched a Warrant Apprehension and Bail Compliance Project. Since the launch of the project, CPS made 16 arrests, laid 38 charges and executed 22 warrants relating to violations of release orders.

The CPS Uniform Division led the Warrant Apprehension and Bail Compliance Project, with the CPS Criminal Investigative Bureau (CIB), the Community Impact and Enforcement Unit (CIEU), and assistance from Special Constables and Auxiliary members. Port Hope Police Service also provided support to this initiative. In this collaborative initiative, CPS focused on ensuring bail compliance and outstanding warrant execution.

In the 3 week period between November 15 and December 8, 2024, CPS also conducted 7 bail compliance checks and made three (3) arrests.

The Warrant Apprehension and Bail Compliance project is part of a broader strategy for ongoing and integrated bail compliance efforts to ensure adherence to conditions and to reduce the risk of reoffending while improving community safety and support victims of crime.

The community is a key partner in ensuring public safety. We encourage community members to report bail or release violation, suspicious activity, and crime to police.
