Northumberland OPP – Investigation Leads to Arrest and Seizure of Firearms (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested and charged an individual following an investigation involving firearms.

On November 28, 2024, shortly after 5:00 p.m., officers from the Peterborough-Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) executed a search warrant at a location on Bridge Street in Campbellford. As a result, one person was arrested and among the items seized were four shotguns and five rifles along with ammunition.

Cody WHITLEY, 33-years-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, has been charged with:

– Possession of a firearm, prohibited or restricted weapon obtained by crime

– Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with

– Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm – seven counts

– Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – seven counts

The accused was transported to a local detachment where they were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Among the items seized were four shotguns, four rifles along with ammunition and a bullet proof vest. Investigators believe the firearms and ammunition to be stolen and working to reunite the pro perty with its rightful owners.
