Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on November 26, 2024 following a call for service regarding a motor vehicle.
On November 27, 2024, at approximately 6:31 pm, an off-duty OPP officer reported a possible impaired driver northbound on Highway 35 just south of Fenelon Falls. Officers responded to the call for service.
A traffic stop was completed and officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.
Randy Switzer, 65-year-old of Fenelon Falls, was charged with:
Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
Drive Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days and the drivers license was suspended for 90 days.
If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, o r come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
