Northumberland OPP – Driver Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Tracked by GPS (Name Released)

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested one individual following a report of a stolen vehicle in Brighton.

On October 6, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., police responded to a complaint regarding a stolen vehicle which was equipped with a built-in GPS and was being tracked by its registered owner. The pickup truck had been stolen earlier from a location on Sharp Road.

The vehicle was subsequently located by OPP in the area of County Road 26 and Telephone Road in the Municipality of Brighton where the driver was taken into custody.

Leigh SMITH, 42-years-old, from Brighton has been charged with:

–          Theft of motor vehicle.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
