Northumberland OPP – Driver Speeding A Week After Being Suspended for Stunt Driving

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver for speeding and driving while suspended.

On October 3, 2024, at approximately 2:10 a.m., OPP were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound in the Township of Cramahe. An officer observed a passenger vehicle without proper headlights at a speed of 138 km/h in a posted 110 km/ limit.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was found to be suspended as a result of a stunt driving incident on September 27, 2024 in Mississauga.

A 20-year-old, from North York, has been charged with:

–      Driving while under suspension

–      Speeding 1-49 km/h over posted limit

–      Drive without proper headlights – motor vehicle.

In addition to a future court date, the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Over the past week, OPP have laid 83 speeding related charges in Northumberland.

The OPP is committed to reducing and preventing injuries on roads, highways, waterways, and trails, while enhancing safety for motorists and all other road users through public education and enforcement.
