Video – SARTECS Drop in to Victoria Beach in Cobourg Kicking Off Ribfest

In Editor Choice, Local

Three members of the 424 Search and Rescue Squadron from CFB Trenton helped kick-off Ribest in Cobourg on Friday, August 16, 2024.

The three SARTECS (Search and Rescue Technicians) parachuted from a Griffin helicopter over Victoria Beach at 2 p.m.

The landed (almost) perfectly on  the landing zone just south of the campground on the beach area.

One of the SARTECS just about landed in the parking lot.

But people on the beach and pier were thrilled to see the demonstration.

After the jumpers packed up their parachute, they were happy to speak with people as they made their way onto the east pier where the Griffin helicopter landed and waited for them.

Once in the air the crew gave a fly-by to visitors on the beach with the SARTECS and crew waving from the helicopter.

Ribfest continues in Victoria Park on Saturday and Sunday.
