Video – Good Clean Fun On the Water in Cobourg

In Local

Cobourg resident Mike Jakic is having a blast this summer on his e-foil.

On Saturday, July 6, 2024, before Jakic launched from the dock where his sailboat is, he explained to Today’s Northumberland about the e-foil which leaves absolutely no carbon footprint.

Jakic uses a hand-held device which controls the power of the e-foil made by Tokuma which he now says they make jet-propulsion boards which are legal in Canada.

The price ranges from approximately $10,000 and up and can travel 30 to 50 kph. The battery will last for approximately one-hour depending on how it’s used.

Jakic said the board is a “blast.”

“It’s amazing. No carbon footprint, no nothing. You just enjoy.”

For anyone even thinking about purchasing a e-foil Jakic strongly advises to take lessons saying it was a “steep-curve” at first.
