Theft and Breach of Conditional Sentence Order
On the 25th of June at 12:17pm, Belleville Police were called the bus terminal on Pinnacle St regarding a theft. Police attended and learned that a male had just stolen a victim’s cell phone and then took off on a bike. Police obtained a description of the suspect and searched the area. Police located the male and arrested him for theft without incident. The suspect advised that he did not have the phone anymore and that he lost it while riding his bike. Police located the phone on the suspect while searching him incident to arrest. Police identified the suspect as a 36-year-old man from Belleville. Further, an officer on patrol advised that he had grounds to arrest the same male from a recent separate incident of theft from a grocery store in Belleville. As a result, the male was charged with two counts of theft and breaching his conditional sentence order. He was held for a bail hearing. Police returned the cell phone to the victim.
Assault and Breach of Release Conditions
On the 25th of June at 3:42pm, the Belleville Police and members of the Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society began an investigation into the assault of an 8-year-old child who had showed up to school with bruising consistent with being assaulted. Following the investigation, police formed the grounds to arrest and charge a 39-year-old Belleville male for assault. Police attended a residence in Belleville and located the male. Police learned that the male had previously been released on domestic related charges and was not to be at the residence or have communication with others who were living there. As a result, the male was arrested and charged with one count of assault and three counts of breaching his release conditions. He was held for a bail hearing.
