Investigators are on scene of a fatal house fire that happened overnight east of Colborne.

Cramahe Township firefighters were called to address on Blythe Road Park at approximately 3:40 a.m. on June 2, 2024.

Because the call came in as a working structure fire, Brighton Fire Department was also dispatched.

When fire crews arrived the home and two vehicles in the driveway were engulfed.

Reports are the fire may have started in the area of the garage.

The Office of the Fire Marshall, OPP Forensic Identification Unit along Northumberland OPP Crime Unit are investigating to try and determine a cause.

The investigation is in the early stages, but it appears the husband woke his wife up and alerted her to the fire.

Because the fire spread so fast, the woman made it out of the home crawling on her hands and knees, but the husband tragically died in the fire.
