City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – ATV Driver Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation on April 23, 2024 after a traffic complaint.

On April 23, 2024, at approximately 01:28 a.m., officers received a traffic complaint of an ATV speeding up and down residential roads. Officers conduced a traffic stop on the motor vehicle in a residential area of Omemee. Through investigat ion the driver was arrested for impaired driving offences and several Highway Traffic Act offences.

Brandon Fisher, 28-year-old of Omemee, was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Operator Motor Vehicle without Insurance
  • Fail to Surrender Permit for Motor Vehicle
  • Failed to Wear Proper Helmet
  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Not Equipped with Ignition Interlock Device
  • Drive Motor Vehicle No Plates
  • Unlawfully Drive Off Road Vehicle on Highway
  • Driving Mot or Vehicle with Unsealed Container of Liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The motor vehicle was towed and impounded for 45 days.

If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
