Peterborough Police Service – Incidents Include Robbery Arrest and Indecent Act Arrest (No Names Released)

Robbery Arrest

A 31-year-old Peterborough man is facing several charges after a robbery Monday night.

At approximately 10:40pm on April 15, 2024, a 9-1-1 call came in about a robbery at a store in the King Street and Bethune Street area in which a male had entered the store with a pair of scissors and covering his face. He threatened a customer in the store then the clerk. Officers were told the suspect took money from the register and a package of cigarettes on the counter and fled.

An officer caught up to the man matching the description given drew their firearm in an attempt to initiate a high-risk arrest. However, the suspect ignored officer demands and continued running. Officers gave chase and successfully deployed a conducted energy weapon to take the suspect into custody at approximately 10:45pm. During a search of the suspect after arrest, officers seized money, cigarettes, and pair of scissors.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Armed Robbery
Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
Disguise with Intent
Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 16, 2024.

Peterborough Police would like to thank a witness for calling 9-1-1 and for staying on the line to assist in locating the suspect.

 

Indecent Act Arrest

A 41-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Monday night.

At approximately 8:20pm on April 15, 2024, officers were called to the area of George Street North and Townsend Street about a male in a parking lot exposing himself and masturbating in front of businesses. Upon arrival, officers spotted a man matching the description given to police and took him into custody. Officers further learned the man was wanted on warrants in other jurisdictions.

As a result of the investigation, a 41-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Indecent Act – Public Place

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on April 30, 2024.

The accused was then turned over to officers in the jurisdiction in which he was wanted.
