Video – Weather Hampers Fanny Down the Ganny 2024

In Editor Choice, Local

The good news is over 70 canoes and kayaks took part in the 2024 Fanny Down the Ganny in Port Hope on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

The bad news is, the inflatables that were scheduled to take place from Corbett’s dam to the finish line had to be cancelled due to the dangerous conditions of the Ganaraska River.

With the amount of rain taking place over the last three days it was just to dangerous for the annual Fanny Down the Ganny to take place.

The canoes and kayaks did start out in Canton and make their way down to Corbett’s dam. But they were pulled from the mighty Ganaraska River after that due to dangerous conditions along the river south of Molson Street.

Still everyone tried to make the best of it.

Members of the Northumberland County Paramedics, Northumberland OPP, Port Hope Police, Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services along with members of St. John Ambulance once again participated to monitor the river and participants.
