Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include, Stunt Driving, Refused Service Caused Scene (No Names Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 84 calls for service over a period beginning at 5:00 am on March 14, 2024 to 5:00 am on March 15, 2024.

Stunt driving
The Traffic Safety Unit was out enforcing the Highway Safety Act on city roads, Thursday.

Shortly before 6 p.m., a traffic officer was conducting radar on a stretch of College Street West when a silver sedan was clocked at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was being operated at 94 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone.

The driver, a 21-year-old, was charged with Stunt Driving. His vehicle was impounded for seven days and driver’s licence seized for a month.

 

Refused service, caused scene
A 21-year-old woman who was upset about being refused service at a local bar due to her level of intoxication spent time in a jail cell sobering up early Friday.

The female started to cause a scene at the west end business shortly after midnight when she was refused service. The situation elevated to the point several other patrons had to step in and restrain the female because of her aggressive behaviour.

The female was arrested at the scene for public intoxication and lodged in a cell until sober. She was released a few hours later.
