Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Family Dispute, Missing Person

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 82 calls for service over a period beginning at 5:00 am on March 13, 2024 to 5:00 am on March 14, 2024.

Family dispute leads to arrest
A 36-year-old city man is being held for a bail hearing after officers were called to what was initially reported as a family dispute, Wednesday morning.
Officers arrived in the area of Glendale Road and Parkdale Drive around 11:30 a.m. and spoke with several involved in the incident.
Following an investigation, the 36-year-old man was arrested for uttering threats, weapons dangerous and assault with a weapon.
He was transported to the Belleville Police Service where he is being held for a bail hearing today.

ALPR snags habitual suspended driver
An officer operating a cruiser utilizing the Automated Licence Plate Reader in the city’s west end ended up arresting a motorist, Thursday.
The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when the officer was on Wallbridge-Loyalist Road and the system alerted to a licence plate associated to a suspended driver.
A traffic stop was conducted and following an investigation it was determined the driver was prohibited from driving under the Criminal Code on two separate prohibitions as well as three separate bans stemming from the Highway Traffic Act.
The vehicle was also being operated without insurance.
The driver, who was released at the scene with an April 8, 2024 court date, was charged with two criminal code charges for operating a vehicle while prohibited, three traffic charges for driving with a suspended licence and a charge of operating a vehicle without insurance.
As per the criminal code charges, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
Charged is Jeffrey Norton, 46, of Belleville. Norton was provided a court date on April 8, 2024 to face the charges.

Missing female at Sens game found
There were a few tense moments for fans at the Belleville Senator’s game, Wednesday and it had nothing to do with what was happening on the ice.
Shortly before the end of the third period, around 9:30 p.m., a 19-year-old female with cognitive challenges attending the game left her group unexpectedly.
After searching the arena with security and staff – which included putting on a public notification on during the game – police located the female in nearby Riverside Park. She was returned to her group without further incident.
No injuries were reported as a result.
Belleville Police would like to thank the Senators staff, security staff and the public for their assistance in locating the female.
