A vehicle with major damage travelling along Highway 401 that was stopped in Toronto earlier this week may have been part of a multi-vehicle collision east of Cobourg.

One witness tells Today’s Northumberland that she was in the collision and actually filmed the video that shows the car amongst other vehicles and transports that were caught up in the collision at Nagle Road on February 15, 2024.

There were numerous collisions in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 from Cobourg to Port Hope and it’s believed traffic was backed up to Nagle Road.

It’s believed vehicles couldn’t stop in time and collided. A tractor trailer jack-knifed on the highway and another transport went into the ditch.

One person walked to the ambulance with minor injuries.

Police at the scene said one vehicle had left the scene.

It was almost like a scene out of Planes, Trains and Automobiles as John Candy and Steve Martin driving down the highway bundles up in the shell of what was a vehicle.

A short time later on social media people were posting photos and video of a heavily damaged white car travelling westbound on Highway 401.

The vehicle was stopped by Toronto OPP who received numerous complaints and has been widely shown on media.

In the video taken at the scene east of Cobourg, the video shows what appears to be the same vehicle.

Northumberland OPP are investigating to confirm if it is the same vehicle.
