Peterborough County OPP – Trent Hills Man Charged with Break and Enter, Failure to Comply, Obstruct Peace Officer (Name Released)

A report of a Break and Enter at a business in Asphodel-Norwood Township has led to the arrest of one person.

On February 8, 2024, at approximately 9:30am, members of the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received to a call regarding a break in that occurred at a business location in Asphodel-Norwood Township. The caller advised that the building had been broken into and they believed an individual was still in it sleeping. </SPA n>

Police attended and entered the building locating the individual asleep in one of the rooms. When awoken, the individual provided a false name but was later identified by police. The individual was arrested and when searched, counterfeit currency was located in their possession.

Jamie JONES (age 53) of Trent Hills, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Possessing Counterfeit Money – have in custody
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Mischief Under $5000

The accused was also arrested on the strength of four(4) outs tanding Warrants.

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
