Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of an illegal weapon, illegal substances, and the arrest of two individuals.
On February 2, 2024, the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act Offence. Through investigation a search was conducted of the vehicle locating illegal substances and a butterfly knife. As a result of the search, two individuals were arrested and charged.
Philip Anderson, 36-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
· Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – three counts
· Unauthorized possession of Weapon
Jeremy Ross-Johanssen, 35-year-old of Lindsay, was charged with:
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
· Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
· Unauthorized possession of Weapon
Both accused were released on an Undertaking and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a future date.
