Cobourg Police – Youth Charged with Uttering Threats x4, Using Firearm in Commission of Offence, Sexual Assault

A 17-year-old youth has been arrested following a weapons call.

Police were called to the area of University Avenue West and Ontario Street for threats involving a firearm.

During the investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police aided by locating and arresting the 17-year-old suspect in Roseneath.

The youth has been charged with

Uttering Threats Causing Death x4,

Using Firearm in Commission of Offence,

Sexual Assault and Overcoming Resistance to Commission of Offence.

The youth was held for a bail hearing and subsequently detained. The youth will not be named pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

As a result of the investigation, members of the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigations Bureau, supported by uniform members and special constables executed a search warrant at the Roseneath address.

Subsequently police seized a GSG 16-22.cal long rifle and ammunition.

The incident remains under investigation at this time. Anyone with information, video surveillance or dashcam footage of the area is asked to call police at 905-372-6821 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or visiting stopcrimehere.ca. Tips received through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
