There was plenty to see and do as the annual Warkworth Fall Fair returned to Trent Hills this weekend.
The fair runs from Friday through Sunday, September 13, with a packed schedule of activities, competitions, livestock events, entertainment and family fun.
The Warkworth Fall Fair has a long history in the community. Founded in 1850 by the Percy Agricultural Society, it is one of the oldest continuously running agricultural fairs in Ontario.
Visitors throughout the weekend can take in traditional agricultural events, including sheep shearing, horse and pony pulls, the Need-4-Speed Horse Show, the Warkworth Beef Expo and Purebred Beef Show, as well as the popular Truck and Tractor Pull.
There is also plenty happening outside the livestock ring.
The Saturday lineup includes a baby show, talent show, firefighters challenge, Hot Diggity Dogs Show, a steam show and activities hosted by the Trent Hills Library.
Food and baking are also a big part of the fair, with entries in the “Bake Your Best Pie” competition being judged before the winning pies are auctioned off.
Sunday brings another full slate of activities, including the Classic Vehicle Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Touch-a-Truck from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Truck and Tractor Pull from noon to 4 p.m., the Warkworth Beef Expo from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the popular Car Draw running from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For generations, the Warkworth Fall Fair has been a celebration of rural life, agriculture and community — and this year’s event continues that tradition with something for visitors of all ages.
