Northumberland County Housing Executive Departs After 10 Years

In City Hall, Local

Northumberland County’s Associate Director of Housing & Homelessness, Rebecca Snelgrove, has departed from the County after a decade with the organization.

The County announced Snelgrove’s departure Thursday in a message to staff from CAO Dan Borowec.

During her 10 years with Northumberland County, Snelgrove played a significant role in the development and implementation of several housing initiatives.

According to Borowec, her work included the creation of the Northumberland County Affordable Housing Strategy and a Community Housing Master Plan, along with the redevelopment and intensification of the County’s subsidized housing stock.

Snelgrove was also involved in programs designed to encourage private developers to build affordable rental housing, expanded rent subsidy programs for renter households and the introduction of home-repair programs for low-income residents.

“Her contributions were significant and appreciated,” Borowec said in the announcement.

The County did not provide a reason for Snelgrove’s departure and did not indicate whether her position will be permanently filled.

In the interim, housing services will be managed directly by Director Bill Detlor.

Bill Smith, Manager of Homelessness Services, will continue to oversee homelessness services.

Borowec said the County is considering its next steps regarding the position.

“We wish her all the best in her future pursuits,” he said.

The departure comes as Northumberland County continues to deal with significant demand for affordable housing, subsidized housing and homelessness services.

The County said it appreciates the patience and continued support of staff and the community during the transition.
