Cobourg Police – Investigating Suspicious Fire

Cobourg Police Service is investigating after responding to a fire early Thursday morning.

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 3:15 a.m., police responded to a report of a fire at the south end of Durham Street in Cobourg. Officers arrived and located a piece of furniture that was on fire. Police were able to extinguish the flames before the Cobourg Fire Department arrived to ensure the fire was fully extinguished. No property damage was reported.

The circumstances of the fire are under investigation. Anyone with information or video footage in the area is asked to contact the Cobourg Police Service at 905-372-6821. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), submitting a tip online at stopcrimehere.ca. Tips submitted through Crime Stoppers may be eligible for a cash reward.
