Quinte West OPP – Motorist Charged with Impaired Driving (Name Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired driving investigation.

On Sunday, July 26, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., a traffic complaint on Oak Lake Road, Quinte West, led Quinte West OPP to suspect a motorist may have been impaired.

As a result of the investigation, charges were laid under the Criminal Code (CC), the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the Liquor Licence and Control Act (LLCA).

Mitc h BURSEY, age 34, from Stirling, was charged with the following offences:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Drive motor vehicle, no permit

Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on September 3, 2026. Additionally, the vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their licence suspended for 90 days.
