City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Fatal Riding Lawn Mower Accident Under Investigation

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal riding lawn mower accident on Salem Road.

On July 25, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a riding lawn mower acci dent on Salem Road. Officers attended the scene alongside Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service and Kawartha Lakes Fire Rescue Service.

The operator of the riding lawn mower, a 69-year-old male from Little Britain, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Salem Road was closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation and has since reopened.
