Driver Charged with Impaired
On July 19, 2026, at 8:16 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a call for service in the city’s west end regarding a suspected impaired driver. Officers located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the driver.
As a result of the investigation, Andrew Sine, a 47-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in September.
Stolen Vehicles
On July 19, 2026, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Belleville Police received a report that a male attended a gas station in the area of Bell Boulevard and failed to pay for fuel.
Further investigation determined that the vehicle the male was operating had been reported stolen.
At 1:39 p.m., officers located the suspect vehicle driving in the area of Millennium Parkway and Sidney Street and observed a driver matching surveillance footage from the earlier gas theft. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver evaded police and fled at high speed.
The suspect continued driving recklessly, failing to stop for red lights along Bell Boulevard, leading to a brief pursuit. The pursuit was discontinued in the interest of public safety. Officers continued to observe the vehicle’s direction of travel and located the vehicle on Donald Street, unoccupied and damaged. The suspect was not located at that time.
Shortly thereafter, police responded to a separate location on Donald Street regarding a stolen vehicle. It was reported that a delivery driver had his truck stolen. The driver reported observing a shirtless male enter the vehicle and drive away. Additional reports were received regarding a male who had been observed operating a delivery van in the area of Riverside Park before abandoning it and fleeing on foot.
Officers searched the area; however, the suspect was not located. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.
Theft and Firearm Prohibition Breach
On July 18, 2026, Belleville Police investigated a reported theft from a business on Bell Boulevard.
It was reported that on July 4, 2026, an unknown male entered the store and requested a pellet gun from a locked cabinet. An employee provided the item. The male then left the area of staff supervision and was observed on video concealing the pellet gun in his clothing and exiting the store without paying.
Through investigation, officers identified the suspect and learned he was subject to multiple prohibition orders barring him from possessing firearms.
On July 19, 2026, at 4:17 p.m., Belleville Police observed the male suspect walking in the area of Front Street.
As a result, a 27-year-old Belleville man was arrested and charged with:
· Theft under $5000
· Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order X9
He was held for a bail hearing.
Driver Charged with Impaired
On July 18, 2026, at 8:31 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the area of Bridge Street East and Ann Street regarding a motor vehicle collision. It was reported that a vehicle had struck a pole.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle that had collided with a pole and identified the male driver standing nearby. Officers spoke with the driver and observed signs of impairment.
As a result of the investigation, Robert Thompson, a 61-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg.
He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in August.
Fail to Comply
On July 18, 2026, at 1:19 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the area of Bridge Street West and Sidney Street following a call for service. A witness reported observing a male and female in a vehicle, with the male known to have an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant.
Upon arrival, officers located the stopped vehicle. The female departed the immediate area, and officers spoke with the male driver and learned that he was subject to conditions prohibiting him from communicating with the female.
As a result, a 20-year-old Belleville man was arrested on the strength of the outstanding arrest warrant, and charged additionally with:
· Fail to comply with a release order X2
He was held for a bail hearing.
Warrants
On July 17, 2026, at 11:30 p.m., Belleville Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of Moira Street East. While speaking with the occupants, officers confirmed that the male passenger had outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants.
As a result, Richard Brant, a 53-year-old Quinte West man, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants and held for a bail hearing.
Assault
On July 17, 2026, Belleville Police responded to the area of Bridge Street West and Coleman Street regarding a domestic disturbance. Witnesses reported observing a physical altercation between a male and a female.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with both parties and determined that the incident had begun as a verbal altercation, which escalated when the female threw a glass object at the male.
As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address was arrested and charged with:
· Assault with a weapon – spousal
She was released on an undertaking with a court date in August.
