Northumberland OPP – Stolen Vehicle, Suspected Stolen Tools Recovered During Search Warrant (Names Released)

Two individuals are facing charges following the execution of a search warrant in the Municipality of Brighton.

On July 6, 2026, members of the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a property on Lakeshore Road.

During the search, officers recovered a vehicle that had recently been stolen from a nearby township, along with a quantity of trade tools, power tools and equipment believed to be stolen. Two individuals were taken into custody at the property.

Jason SZAKACSI, 45, from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Michael WINN (60) from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Fail to comply with probation order

Both accused were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Police believe the recovered tools and equipment may be stolen and are seeking to identify their rightful owners.

Images of the items are being released to the public.
