Peterborough Police – Markdale Man Believed To Have Drowned in Beavermead Park

Emergency Services (police, fire, paramedics) were called to Beavermead Park beach Friday, July 3, 2026.

Upon arrival around 7:43 pm it was learned a 22-year-old man from Markdale, Ontario had entered the water and did not resurface.

Emergency services pulled him from the water and attempted life saving measures. He was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre where he was pronounced deceased.

The beach was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.
