Filming Notice: Murdoch Mysteries Returns June 24-25

The Town of Cobourg Community Services Division advises residents that CBC’s Murdoch Mysteries will return to film scenes in Cobourg on Wednesday June 24, and Thursday June 25.

Filming activity is expected to have localized and temporary impacts, with efforts in place to maintain public access where possible. Residents can expect short, intermittent traffic delays and localized activity around filming areas.

Filming Schedule and Locations

Wednesday, June 24

Victoria Hall, 55 King Street West (interior and exterior filming)
Filming will include an exterior scene involving a prop firearm. The prop will be drawn and “fired” with no sound effects.
Thursday, June 25

Cobourg Conservation Area (morning only)
202 Church Street
Victoria Park
Private laneway, 29 King Street East
Some increased noise and lighting activity may occur during evening filming hours.
Filming schedules are subject to change based on production requirements and weather conditions.

Town of Cobourg Council Meeting & Public Access – June 24
The Town of Cobourg Council meeting will proceed as scheduled on Wednesday, June 24 at Victoria Hall. Staff will be onsite throughout the day and evening to ensure residents and visitors continue to have full access to municipal services and the Council meeting.
Filming activities at Victoria Hall occur in short, intermittent segments. These brief production “spurts” are actively managed, and pedestrians, Council attendees, and visitors will be moved safely and efficiently in and out of the building with minimal delay.
The Art Gallery of Northumberland will remain open and accessible during this time, with coordinated access maintained for visitors.

Intermittent Traffic Stoppages
There will be no full road closures; however intermittent traffic stoppages, will be in effect and facilitated by the Cobourg Police Service. Intermittent traffic stoppages will be short in duration and actively managed by the Cobourg Police Service to maintain movement and safety. Pedestrian access to businesses and municipal facilities will be maintained at all times, with on-site direction provided as required.

Wednesday, June 24

8 a.m. to 10 p.m. | Intermittent stoppages on George Street at King Street West.
8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. | Intermittent stoppages on King Street West (Third Street to Second Street) and Third Street.
Thursday, June 25

9 p.m. to 1 a.m. | Intermittent stoppages on Church Street (King Street East to Queen Street) and King Street East (east of College Street to west of Green Street).

Parking
All parking will be paid and conducted in accordance with Town procedures. The production company will utilize designated on-street spaces and pay applicable fees, from June 24-25, including:

Second and Third Streets (between King and Albert)
Portions of King Street West adjacent to Victoria Hall
Church Street and McGill Street (June 25 only)
King Street East (June 25 only)

Downtown Businesses
Downtown businesses will remain open and accessible throughout filming. Residents and visitors are encouraged to explore downtown Cobourg, support local businesses, and may also have the opportunity to observe filming activity in designated public areas.
