Belleville Police – Incidents Include Arson, West End Disturbance

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 103 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on June 1, 2026 to 5:00 am on June 2, 2026.

Arson
On June 1st at 8:17 p.m., Belleville Police responded to the area of Moira St. West and Wallbridge Crescent following a report of a fire. It was reported that a male was behaving erratically in the area and uttering threats before setting a vehicle on fire under a carport, which subsequently caused the residence to catch fire, with additional damage caused to a neighbouring home.
Police located the male nearby and placed him under arrest.

As a result of investigation, a 38-year-old Belleville man of no fixed address was charged with:
· Arson – disregard for human life X2
· Arson – damage to property X3
· Mischief endangering life
· Uttering threats – damage property
· Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
· Breach of recognizance

He was held for a bail hearing.
No injuries were reported.
Belleville Police and Belleville Fire continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Belleville Police Service at 613-966-0882.

West End Disturbance
On June 1st at 8:06 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a reported disturbance in the city’s west end. It was reported that a male was causing a disturbance involving individuals in the area, including kicking the door of a female. Further reports indicated that while attempting to gain entry, the male spat at the female and made threats toward her.
During the investigation, officers observed the male expose himself while speaking with police.
As a result, a 43-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm – spousal
· Assault – spousal
· Nudity and indecent exposure

He was held for a bail hearing.
