OPP Investigating Threat at Lakefield School

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a reported threat involving a school located in Lakefield.

On Monday May 25, 2026, shortly after 10:00am, the Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a potential threat that had been received by the school. The staff at the school immediately initiated their safety protocols which included contacting police.

Officers arrived on scene minutes later and after a sweep of the school was conducted, it was confirmed that there was no immediate risk to the safety of the students or staff.

The OPP Major C rime Unit has been engaged to assist with the ongoing investigation into the source of the threat. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have information regarding the investigation and ask that you contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
