OPP Investigating Fatal Head-On Collision in Newcastle

One individual has been pronounced deceased following a head-on collision on Highway 35/115.

On Sunday, April 26, 2026, at approximately 1:45 p.m., officers from the Toronto Detachment Highway Safety Division (HSD) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving SUVs on Highway 3 5/115 northbound just south of Concession Road 3 in Newcastle.

As a result of the collision, the driver of the SUV, an 80-year-old male from Clarington, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the other SUV was transported to hospital with non-life threatening or life-altering injuries.

Highway 35/115 northbound is closed between Highway 2 and Concession Road 3 for several hours for the ongoing investigation with assistance from the OPP-HSD Traffic Support Unit.
