In Local

As we welcome the spring season, we remind residents and visitors about the key initiatives and guidelines for enjoying our beautiful natural resources responsibly. Whether you’re camping, fishing, or simply enjoying the scenery, your cooperation is vital in preserving the environment and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Camping and River Access
Prepare for the spring trout fishing season opener by familiarizing yourself with our established guidelines for camping and river access:

Please park only in designated areas.

Respect the environment by taking all garbage with you when you leave.

Do not trespass on private property without explicit permission.

Remember that plants and trees play a crucial role in the river’s ecosystem; do not cut down or remove vegetation.

Abstain from lighting campfires or consuming alcohol in public areas.

We urge everyone to respect nature, keep our spaces clean, and adhere to all safety protocols while enjoying the great outdoors.

As a reminder, the Port Hope Conservation Area is closed for the highway 401 expansion staging activities until at least 2028.

Reporting Violations
If you observe any environmental abuse or violations, please report them immediately to the Ministry’s TIPS Reporting Line at 1-877-TIPS-MNR (1-877-847-7667). Your vigilance helps us protect our environment and maintain the natural beauty of Port Hope.

For more information and updates, please visit our website or contact our municipal offices. Together, let’s enjoy the beauty of Port Hope responsibly and ensure a safe and sustainable environment for all.
