Peterborough County OPP – Arrest Made After Stolen Vehicle Recovered (Name Released)

Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest after locating stolen vehicles in a body shop in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township.

On Saturday February 28, 2026, Peterborough County OPP officers received information of the possible location of a vehicle that had been reported as stolen. Officers attended the location, which was a business located on Highway 7.

On Sunday March 1, 2026, members of the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a warrant at the business. Upon entry, officers located the vehicle in question as well as another vehicle reported stolen from another region. Both vehicles were seized.

During their search, paperwork related to another stolen vehicle along with various car parts also believed to be from stolen vehicles were located and seized.

The owner of the unit arrived on scene and was arrested.

Zirak JAAFAR (age 41) of Otonabee-South Monaghan Township, was arrested and charged with;

• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

The accused was released with a future court date to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
