New Medical Clinic Planned for Ontario Street in Cobourg

Cobourg council heard this week of a new medical clinic and dispensing pharmacy at 628 Ontario St.
Mark Pollard of 1543911 Ontario Inc. said that the property’s LH-10 zoning has discouraged leasing opportunities and have led to medical professionals in the past declining to pursue similar projects. But that has changed, and plans are on for the interior will be fully and professionally renovated to expand an existing practice on William Street

Pollard said they need a temporary-use bylaw for an expansion of thelocation to bring in a minimum of two new doctors to the community.

“This is just a great addition to health care, wellness, and also takes pressure off Northumberland Hills (Hospital) with a well-established medical walk-in clinic and dispensing pharmacy,” he said.

“If we are indeed Ontario’s Feel Good Town, we need these doctors to feel better.”

Dr. Isah Usman appeared by Zoom. He practices at the Cobourg Care Clinic on Ontario Street and is looking to expand and accommodate more health-care professionals – “specifically family physicians, so we can provide some much-needed urgent-care services that Cobourg desires”

Council voted to grant the temporary uses as requested, and also to waive all planning application fees for the bylaw.
