Cobourg Police – Belleville Man Charged with Shoplifting (No Name Released)

A Belleville man is facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting incident.

On February 24, 2026, at approximately 4:15 p.m., police responded to a business in the area of Strathy Road and DePalma Drive for a report of a man attempting to exit the store with a cart full of merchandise. The man was also identified as the same person involved in a previous shoplifting incident. Police located the man inside the store.

As a result of the police investigation, a 37-year-old Belleville man was arrested, trespassed from the property, and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
